MLB world reacts to the Red Sox shockingly firing Dave Dombrowski

As the NFL finished up its first Sunday of regular-season action this year, it’s the Major League Baseball world that’s making news.

Immediately after Boston’s 10-5 loss to the New York Yankees at Fenway, the Red Sox announced that they have fired team president Dave Dombrowski.

Given that the Sox are defending champs and have seen a ton of success under the leadership of the longtime executive, this is an absolutely shocking move.

Sure Boston is not going to be playing playoff baseball in October, but most figured that Dombrowski has more than earned his keep.

1. There was no way Dombrowski would be making decisions as a lame duck.

2. It was either give him and extension now, and he is the guy to rebuild and reload, or he was gone.

Still a successful tenure for Dombrowski in Boston. Did what he does best, built a winner, gutted the farm system, but won a championship and helped construct one of the most dominant baseball teams of all time last year.

And I recognize that Dombrowski has his flaws… but there is a reason that every organization he has been the GM of (Marlins, Tigers, Red Sox) has ended up in a World Series. Also, all three were upper third in payroll while he was there
