The Atlanta Falcons season has already gone south after just one game. A day after losing their season opener to the Minnesota Vikings in blowout fashion, the Falcons received some bad news surrounding rookie first-round pick Chris Lindstrom.
The 14th overall pick suffered a broken foot in his regular-season debut and is expected to miss at least two months of action.
Considered the best guard prospect in April’s draft, Lindstrom was an immediate starter on the right side of Atlanta’s line. He looked great during the preseason.
This could have wide-ranging ramifications. You don’t select a guard in the middle of the first round without the expectation of him making an immediate impact. That possibility is now going to be set back eight weeks.
The only backup guard Atlanta has on its 53-man roster is veteran journeyman Jamon Brown. The expectation here is that it will add a street free agent in short order.
