Angels fire manager Brad Ausmus, to target Joe Maddon?

This seemed to be in the cards for some time. Following yet another season of irrelevance in Southern California, the Los Angeles Angels have reportedly fired manager Brad Ausmus.

Ausmus served in that role for just one season, posting a 72-90 record in the process. Prior to that, he was the Tigers’ manager from 2014-17.

This firing comes one day after the Cubs and manager Joe Maddon parted ways. That’s unlikely to be a coincidence.

Maddon served as an interim manager for the Angels in both 1996 and 1999. That was his first cup of coffee as a manager in MLB. In fact, he spent a whopping 30 years with that organization as a player and a coach.
