More than a year after he tore his ACL in his first preseason NFL game, Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice returned with a vengeance on Thursday and took it out on his opponents.
After a nice run on his first carry, Guice got the football once again on the first drive and unleashed a brutal stiff arm on an Atlanta Falcons defensive back to create some space and pick up extra yards.
Guice started drawing headlines in July for his impressive performance early in camp and the momentum is carrying over into games. He’s now fully recovered from his torn ACL and the hamstring injury he suffered during training camp.
The 22-year-old took the field with the starters for Thursday’s preseason game and quickly proved it’s a role he deserves. Guice rushed for 44 yards on only nine carries and should be ready to roll for a big year when the regular season begins.
