Pete Buttigieg, a Democrat who is vying to become the next President of the United States, has officially chimed in on the MLB designated hitter debate.

While in Iowa conversing with locals at the Iowa State Fair, Buttigieg was asked to give his thoughts about the DH.

His response will resonate with baseball purists everywhere: “I feel you ought to have to play both parts of the game,” Buttigieg said, per Elena Schneider of Politico.

Buttigieg is famously youthful in his appearance, but this stance is one you’d expect from the older generations among us.

In fact, there are many who have suggested that the National League needs to embrace the DH to make games more offense-oriented, and therefore potentially more entertaining.
