Ryan Allen has been with the defending champion New England Patriots six seasons and won three Super Bowls with the team. On Monday, he was released, per Jim McBride of the Boston Globe.
Over his six-year career with the Patriots, Allen averaged 45.3 yards per punt, netting 40.4 yards per and pinning opponents inside the 20-yard line 153 times.
His release isn’t completely a surprise, however, given the Patriots used a fifth-round pick this past April to acquire Jake Bailey out of Stanford.
