The Philadelphia Phillies thought they had Monday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates wrapped up.
Philadelphia was up 5-4 in the top of the ninth inning with closer Hector Neris on the mound against Pirates All-Star Josh Bell.
Unfortunately for the home team, Bell knocked a solo homer to tie the game up. MLB’s official Twitter account also had jokes.
For those of you not up to date on the whole social media thing, “Ring The Bell” is the Phillies’ official Twitter hashtag. Josh Bell tied the game up. Get it?
Needless to say, the Phillies were not too happy with this pun.
Baseball on baseball Twitter crimes. We have to love them. It might not be as petty as the NBA, but this came darn close.
