TCU kicker Cole Bunce was riding his scooter while en route to check-in day Thursday morning when he was struck by a car.
Head coach Gary Patterson told reporters that Bunce required emergency surgery but did not go into details about any specific injuries. He did say, however, that he does not anticipate that Bunce would be able to play at all in 2019.
“I don’t think he’ll be able to play the rest of the year,” Patterson said, per SportsDay. “Some times you have luck and sometimes you have no luck at all.”
Bunce, a senior, is the team’s primary kickoff and long field-goal kicker. Last season, he went 4-of-9 on field goal attempts and made 12-of-12 extra-points.
Our thoughts are with Bunce as he recovers from his injuries.
