As the NBA Summer League kicks off and dozens of NBA players look to prove themselves, Philadelphia 76ers guard Zhaire Smith made his presence known early.
Early in the first quarter against the Milwaukee Bucks, the 20-year-old took flight with a perfect alley-top near the bucket as he soared into the sky to grab it and slam it down for the first two points of the game.
Smith didn’t get many opportunities with the 76ers as a rookie after being selected with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Now after a full season of learning from NBA veterans, he appears ready to take flight for an even larger role this season.
Perhaps Friday’s epic dunk can provide an early spark for him to dominate during the Summer League and take more momentum into the summer as he works towards getting more minutes with the 76ers next season.
