Despite the NFL deciding against disciplining Ezekiel Elliott over a May incident in Las Vegas, the Dallas Cowboys star might not be completely vindicated.
Kyle Johnson, a security guard at EDC, filed charges against Elliott with authorities in Vegas. It now appears that those in charge are investigating the incident.
“The criminal investigation into Ezekiel Elliott over his Las Vegas altercation with a security guard is officially underway,” TMZ Sports noted.
A video shows Elliott knocking Johnson to the ground in a parking lot. The Pro Bowl running back was later seen in handcuffs, but was not arrested.
Meanwhile, the star back and his reps claim that Elliott is the victim of an extortion scheme.
It remains to be seen what the investigation will yield and whether that might change the NFL’s decision not to discipline Elliott.
If charged, it will be under the umbrella of assault and battery. This also comes at a time when reports indicate that Elliott might hold out of training camp in hopes of landing a new contract.
Yeah, the next few weeks are going to be interesting when it comes to one of the game’s best backs.
