It was anticipated when they acquired him from the Chicago Bulls last season. But it’s now officially official.
The Washington Wizards have declined the 2019-20 option on Jabari Parker’s contract, per Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports.
Parker, 24, averaged 15.0 points and 7.2 rebounds while shooting at a 52 percent clip from the field in 25 games with Washington.
The former No. 2 overall pick was set to count $20 million against the cap next season. While Washington still does covet him, that cap hit was too much.
Parker will now enter what promises to be a robust free-agent market next month.
