After throwing his equipment onto the field following an ejection on Wednesday, MLB has suspended Texas Rangers third baseman four games for throwing equipment toward umpire Bill Miller.
During Wednesday’s game, Cabrera took exception to Miller’s strike zone and argued with him while walking back to the dugout. After yelling something to Miller, he was ejected from the game then tossed equipment onto the field in Miller’s direction.
The 33-year-old is appealing the suspension and will be able to play on Friday against the Chicago White Sox. Cabrera has been a steady presence in the lineup with a .750 OPS, 43 RBI and 11 home runs in 67 games.
