Pirates activate All-Star OF Corey Dickerson off injured list

In a season riddled with injuries, the Pittsburgh Pirates are starting to get healthy and now will welcome back an All-Star to a lineup that greatly needs it.

Pittsburgh activated All-Star outfielder Corey Dickerson off the 60-day injured list on Saturday after he missed more than two months with a posterior strain in his right shoulder.

Dickerson managed to play in just four games this season before he was sidelined on April 4 with the shoulder strain.

The 30-year-old provides an impact bat in the middle of Pittsburgh’s lineup and demonstrated it as an All-Star in 2017 with a .815 OPS followed by an .807 OPS in 2018.

Dickerson, a Gold Glove recipient last season, will shift back into left field for the Pirates and reunite Pittsburgh’s outfield trio of Gregory Polanco, Starling Marte and Dickerson.

The trio last played together on Sept. 7 and with the development from first baseman Josh Bell, it should make the Pirates’ lineup significantly stronger moving forward.
