One of the most consistent pass rushers of the past decade has called it quits on his career.
Chris Long announced his retirement in a social media post Saturday evening.
Long, 34, enjoyed a ton of success during a career that started with him being the second overall pick of the then-St. Louis Rams back in 2009. He recorded 70 sacks over an 11-year career.
The latter part of Long’s career was spent as a situational pass rusher for multiple championship contenders. He earned a title with the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI and defeated the same Patriots squad as a member of the Eagles the following season.
This past year saw Long record 6.5 sacks as a member of the Eagles.
