Stephen Curry refuses to use finger injury as excuse for abysmal Game 3

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry had a brutal night shooting during an abysmal overall performance against the Houston Rockets in Game 3.

Curry hit on just 7-of-23 from the field (including 2-of-9 from behind the arc), scoring 17 points with three rebounds and four assists. Even worse, he was at his worst when his team needed him the most, missing all six of his shots in the fourth quarter and overtime.

Many have wondered if the poor performance was tied to the gruesome dislocated finger Curry suffered in Game 2.

Afterward, he refused to use the injury as an excuse, however.

It’s worth pointing out that Curry’s injury is to his left hand, which is his non-dominant hand. Though, if he’s still dealing with a high degree of pain it would still be a deterrent to a player who relies so much on touch — as Curry does.

Houston won Game 3 in overtime. The series is now 2-1 in favor of Golden State. Despite his injury, Curry needs to show up big for the Warriors in Game 4. If he does not, then it’s not hard to imagine Houston will tie the series up.
