Baltimore Orioles fans did swell not to boo struggling slugger Chris Davis during intros prior to their home opener against the New York Yankees Thursday.
But after Davis struck out multiple times and found himself pulled from the game, fans at Camden Yards could not help but give a mock cheer.
That’s almost more demeaning to a player. Orioles fans were excited to be able to avoid watching Davis whiff at the plate once again.
Davis had struckout in each of his first three at-bats to open the game and is now 0-for-17 with 11 strikeouts on the season. It led to boos from the home crowd after his final K.
At this point, we’re not too sure what the Orioles are going to do with their former 40-homer hitter.
Davis, 33, signed a seven-year, $161 million deal with Baltimore back in July of 2016. Including this season, he’s owed $84 million through the 2022 campaign.
