One year after signing a free-agent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, veteran safety Morgan Burnett will soon be looking for a job.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pittsburgh has informed Burnett that he will be released by the team. The decision comes at Burnett’s request after he started just two games for the Steelers last season.
This move comes after Burnett, 30, signed a four-year, $14.35 million deal last March after acting as a full-time starter for the majority of his eight-year career with the Green Bay Packers.
Despite signing on with Pittsburgh to be the team’s starting strong safety, Burnett lost the job during the preseason to rookie first-round pick Terrell Edmunds. He’s now looking to latch on elsewhere.
