Just after news broke that the Philadelphia Eagles intend on exercising their $20 million option to keep Nick Foles’ rights in 2019, a new report has emerged indicating the team will then attempt to tag-and-trade Foles after he buys out his option for $2 million.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Eagles will attempt to trade Foles for a third-round pick.
Foles’ stock certainly is high right now. He saved the Eagles this past season when Carson Wentz went down with a fracture in his back and then of course won Super Bowl MVP honors the season before capping off one of the most spectacular postseason runs in recent memory.
This past year, Foles passed for 1,413 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions in five regular-season games for the Eagles.
One team in particular appears to be a terrific fit for Foles, who’d instantly upgrade the offense.
