On a day that the NFL controlled the sports landscape, the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves absolutely shocked the basketball world by firing head coach and team president Tom Thibodeau.
The firing came mere hours after Minnesota blew out the LeBron James-less Los Angeles Lakers. It goes without saying that the timing was a bit odd here.
At least one unnamed Wolves player is in agreement here.
One Wolves player said he was "shocked at the timing" of the move.

One has to believe that something happened behind the scenes between Thibodeau and hands-on Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor.
If Thibodeau was not going to get fired after the entire Jimmy Butler drama, why now? That’s a question many around the Association are asking following Sunday’s shocking news.
This comes after Minnesota pretty much gave Thibs control over the organization. That included him bringing on multiple former members of the Chicago Bulls.
As it is, Thibodeau‘s short two-plus year career in Minneapolis ends with him having posted a 97-107 record. Ouch.
