In a move that comes pretty much out of left field, the Buffalo Bills have released starting wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin. Fellow veteran pass catcher Andre Holmes also joins the better-known Benjamin on the waiver wire.

Given that this comes less than 20 games into Benjamin’s career with the Bills, it’s somewhat of a shocking development.
It was just a year ago this past October that Buffalo gave up a third and seventh-round pick to Carolina for Benjamin. Unfortunately, it just has not panned out for the big-bodied receiver and his team.
Benjamin’s release comes after he put up 23 receptions for 354 yards in 12 games this season. He also caught just 37.1 percent of the passes thrown in his direction. Talk about failing to live up to expectations.
The former first-round pick will now hit the waiver where, where the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders will get first dibs at him.
