It was fourth down, with ten yards to go and Sparty was backed up into their own end zone, down by a point to Ohio State.
That’s when Michigan State’s long snapper launched the ball about 10 feet over the head of his punter, which resulted in a safety for the Buckeyes.

The Fox announcing crew speculated that the safety was intentional. It might have been. But then again, it might have just been a huge mistake.
I'm not sure I've ever seen a team that's LOSING by a point take an intentional safety.

Not only did it give the Buckeyes two points, but then on the impending kickoff, Sparty kicked the ball out of bounds, giving Ohio State the ball at the 50-yard line.
