The Pittsburgh Steelers still haven’t heard from running back Le’Veon Bell heading into their Week 10 game against the Carolina Panthers.
But according to Adam Crowley of ESPN Pittsburgh, there is a plan in the works that will see Bell showing up before the deadline in Week 11. Crowley, citing sources, reports that Bell will be attending Saturday’s Michigan State game against Ohio State before reporting to the Steelers next week.
Bell, of course, attended school at Michigan State. He was an honorary captain last year when the Spartans took on Penn State. He could potentially be viewing this as a last chance to enjoy life outside of the Pittsburgh Steelers before immersing himself into a locker room that’s likely not exactly on his side right now.
Every report that’s emerging at this time surrounding Bell needs to be taken with a grain of salt. He was supposedly going to show up right before the season began, but obviously that didn’t happen. Since then, there hasn’t been any real communication between Bell and the franchise.
The real kicker here is he has to sign his franchise tag before 4 p.m. ET next Tuesday. If that doesn’t happen, he will be ineligible for the remainder of the season and miss an accrued season, which affects his free-agency status next year.
