The 23-year-old passed away on Saturday due to Lemierre’s Syndrome, a rare and life-threatening bacterial infection that spreads quickly from the throat to the lymphatic vessels.
Scott was a senior for the Wildcats’ rowing team and received academic All-Big 12 honors in 2017, according to The Wichita Eagle.
Kansas State’s football helmets will have a sticker with Samantha’s name and two rowing paddles and a heart right over them. The team will also go out on to the field with a wooden block that reads “Samantha.”
Our thoughts go out to Scott’s family and the entire Kansas State family.
