Report: Orioles expected part ways with GM Dan Duquette

The housecleaning is continuing for the Baltimore Orioles. On Wednesday, it was reported that Baltimore is expected to let general manager Dan Duquette go.

This comes on the heels of the news that Buck Showalter will no longer have any affiliation with the organization.

Duquette had been Baltimore GM since 2011. The Orioles had four winning seasons and three playoff appearances (2012, 2014, 2016) in that tenure.

Even with that success, this is far from surprising.

When it comes to cleaning house, pretty much anything should be expected with Baltimore. The Orioles had one of the worst seasons in MLB history in 2018, going 47-115. Even worse is that this was not considered a rebuilding team at the beginning of the season. This team was built to at least be competitive.

Obviously that didn’t happen. Now Baltimore is entering what figures to be more of a true rebuilding period. As such, it only makes sense that the Orioles would look to get as much separation from anyone who had anything to do with constructing the 2018 team as they possibly can.
