Aaron Hicks leaves Game 1 with leg injury

Yankees right fielder Aaron Hicks is congratulated in the dugout

Already struggling in Game 1 against the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees could now be without center fielder Aaron Hicks after he exited Friday’s game with an injury.

Hicks singled to begin the fourth inning but appeared to slow down going down the line. He started to try and stretch himself out then trainers came out to him and he left the game a short time later.

He was immediately replaced in the game by outfielder Brett Gardner, who struggled during the regular season with a .236 batting average and .690 OPS.

Gardner is an experienced starting outfielder with over 1,000 hits and a career .344 OBP, he also stole 16 bases this season in 140 games.
