The Seattle Seahawks have reportedly agreed to a three-year, $31.8 million extension with receiver Tyler Lockett, who could make even more than that on the deal.
As Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported, Lockett could earn a maximum $37.8 million and $20 million guaranteed on this new contract.
A former third-round pick out of Kansas State, Lockett has made his bones in the NFL as a return specialist and complementary deep option in the passing game for Seattle.
Lockett has racked up 3,266 yards and three touchdowns as a return man and is among the most dangerous special teams players in the league.
To this point in his career, his contributions as a pure receiver have been somewhat muted, as he’s hauled in 137 passes for 1,816 yards and nine touchdowns in three seasons.
The Seahawks obviously expect Lockett to become more involved in the passing game this year, and in the years to come, to have handed out such a lucrative contract.
