Jon Gruden blasts ’embarrassing’ QB play Saturday

The Oakland Raiders were back in Los Angeles facing the Rams on Saturday for a preseason showdown that turned out to be one ugly game. It was a game that prompted head coach Jon Gruden to offer some hefty criticism regarding his two quarterbacks, Connor Cook and EJ Manuel.

Both quarterbacks lost fumbles in this game, and in the end they combined for just 107 net passing yards on 28 attempts.

It goes to show that, aside from Derek Carr, the Raiders are really not in great shape in regards to quarterback depth. It also goes to show that Gruden is still just as salty as he ever was, and that he’s not going to mince words when discussing the shortcomings of his players.

Carr did not play in this game. Neither did Rams quarterback Jared Goff, as both Gruden and Sean McVay chose to keep their starters out for the most part with their Week 1 regular-season matchup coming up in just a few weeks.
