Chris Sale back on DL with shoulder inflammation

Chris Sale

Less than a week after being activated off the DL, Chris Sale has been placed on it once again due to left shoulder inflammation, Chad Jennings of The Athletic first noted on Saturday.

Sale was originally placed on the 10-day DL with a shoulder injury on July 31. He was activated on August 12 and looked fantastic in his start against the Baltimore Orioles, striking out 12 batters while surrendering just one run in a 4-1 victory.

On the season, Sale has a record of 12-4 with an ERA of 1.97 and WHIP of 0.85. He’s one of the best in the business to be sure, and the Red Sox will have to be careful to manage this injury so he’s ready to roll this postseason.
