Packers RB Aaron Jones suspended two games for violating drug policy

The NFL handed down a two-game suspension for Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones on Tuesday. He’s being suspended for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, per Adam Caplan of ESPN.

Likely, this stems from an incident last year when he admitted to smoking weed during a traffic stop.

Jones is entering his second season as a pro. He was a fifth-round pick out of Texas-El Paso last year and showed up well when given a chance to play. As a rookie, he totaled 470 yards and four touchdowns on 81 rushes and nine receptions.

This news likely opens the door for a larger role to be claimed by fellow second-year back Jamaal Williams, who also made a solid impact last year as a rookie.
