WATCH: Clay Matthews takes liner off face in charity softball game

Athletes host charity softball games as a fun way to raise money for charity and compete against their teammates. Unfortunately for Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, wide receiver Davante Adams’ softball game led to a scary situation.

While pitching at Fox Cities Stadium, a liner off the bat drilled Matthews directly in the face and sent him to the ground. The 32-year-old hit the ground immediately then stood up and walked off the field with his glove over his face.

It was a frightening situation for everyone in attendance and certainly left many Green Bay fans and those in the organization holding their breath. Fortunately, it appears Matthews avoided a major injury.

In fact, it was Adams who took on the role his head coach Mike McCarthy is used to, informing the media of Matthews’ status after the game.
