This stat shows just how brutal conditions have been at the U.S. Open

The 118th U.S. Open Championship Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in New York has not been what we’d call player friendly.

It started with windy conditions during the opening round on Thursday, and things just haven’t gotten better for the pros on hand at the tourney.

Tiger Woods missed the cut at plus-10. Meanwhile, Phil Mickelson had a meltdown of epic proportions during Round 3 — leading to a plus-17 mark heading into the final day of the event.

This one stat shows us just how horrific the conditions have been on a course that’s already among the most difficult in the PGA.

That’s pure insanity right there. This tournament is now on pace to shatter the all-time record of doubles/worse. It’s already shattered the record for this season.

As he finishes up Round 3 Saturday evening, Dustin Johnson leads the pack at plus-two. There’s only six total golfers that are better than five-over par.

Talk about frustrating.
