WATCH: Eagle lands on Mariners pitcher James Paxton during national anthem

W.C. Fields once said to “never work with children or animals.” After pregame ceremony prior to the Minnesota Twins home opener against the Seattle Mariners, we’re guessing that Seattle pitcher James Paxton would agree.

The pregame festivities for Minnesota’s home opener featured a World War II veteran raising the flag, which is definitely worth watching.

An eagle was also supposed to fly in during the national anthem, landing on the hand of his handler. The eagle flew in, but chose a different landing spot — near, and eventually, on Paxton.

Full credit to Paxton for keeping his composure. That had to be at least a little scary. But he didn’t let it show.
