The Washington Wizards have added a veteran point guard to the roster in preparation for the playoffs. Ty Lawson is coming back to the NBA.
According to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, Lawson received a letter of clearance after his postseason run with the Shandong Golden Stars of the Chinese Basketball Association.
In 2017-18, he made 46 appearances with Shandong and collected 25.5 points, 6.5 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game. The team recently bowed out to the top-seeded Zhejiang Lions in seven games during the semifinals of the CBA playoffs.
Lawson last played in the NBA with the Sacramento Kings in 2016-17, averaging 9.9 points and 4.8 assists.
He’ll now join John Wall, Bradley Beal and the Wizards in time to challenge the Toronto Raptors, who earned the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
