Nick Nelson has steadily been climbing NFL draft boards, but the top cornerback prospect from Wisconsin is now dealing with an ill-timed setback after a private workout.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Nelson tore his meniscus. The recovery will take 3-4 months, though he’s expected to be healthy in time for the regular season.
Since the draft is approximately three weeks away, the hope for Nelson is that he’s left a positive impression on interested teams. He most recently visited the Houston Texans.
Nelson collected 35 tackles and 21 pass breakups, also returning one punt for a touchdown during his lone season at Wisconsin. Prior to the year in Madison, he played two years for Hawai’i. Nelson totaled 89 stops and 21 breakups with the Warriors.
