The Buffalo Bills head into the 2018 NFL Draft needing a franchise quarterback in the worst possible way, and they might be willing to do some pretty wild stuff to land one.
Having already moved up once when they acquired the No. 12 overall pick moving offensive tackle Cordy Glenn to the Cincinnati Bengals, general manager Brandon Beane is not done yet.
It’s been rumored for a while now that Beane is angling to move up into the top five. And one general manager Beane has spoken to told Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports that he won’t be surprised to see the Bills GM trade up twice to land the No. 2 overall pick.
“Brandon is trying like hell to get up and get a quarterback,” the NFL GM told La Canfora. “I’m convinced he’ll trade up twice more if he has to. It reminds me of (Eagles general manager) Howie (Roseman) a few years ago (when he was moving up to land Carson Wentz).
“If Beane gets the five, I know he can get to two.”
La Canfora also notes that the New York Giants, who own the No. 2 overall pick, are seen as a team that is looking to move down. So there could be a workable deal for Beane and the Bills.
That said, given the crazy amount of draft capital teams have been forced to invest in moves like this in recent years, Buffalo better be prepared to mortgage the future if this is in the cards.
