Report: Dolphins would trade Jarvis Landry for the right price

Jarvis Landry

The Miami Dolphins shocked a lot of people Tuesday evening by placing the franchise tag on wide receiver Jarvis Landry. Should he sign the tag, Landry will earn north of $16 million next season. This comes after he averaged less than nine yards per reception in 2017.

Speculation has surrounded a possible Landry trade for some time now. And simply because he has seen the franchise tag placed on him, that doesn’t mean Miami isn’t looking to trade the pass catcher.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the Dolphins would in fact trade Landry if an offer to their liking presented itself.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that a team would have to offer Miami two first-round picks to acquire Landry. That’s simply the compensation the Dolphins would receive if another squad signed him this coming March.

It’s an interesting scenario to look at. Exactly how much to the Dolphins value Landry? Would he actually be willing to play under the franchise tag tender next season? If not, who might show interest?

We’ll have answers to these questions in the not-so-distant future with free agency set to begin in about two weeks.
