Central Florida finished the 2017 season as the only undefeated team in college football, and the school has decided it will claim a national championship.
And you’re going to see it.
According to 96.9 The Game, UCF athletic director Danny White said the school will be hanging a championship banner at Spectrum Stadium.
While appearing on The Dan Le Batard Show, White said UCF plans to celebrate the 13-0 campaign with a parade. Tom Schad of USA Today shared White’s comments.
“Hopefully in the coming days, a lot more people will become believers, as well. We’re going to continue to promote the fact that we feel like we’re deserving of a national championship.”
Alabama and Georgia are preparing for the official championship game, and the winner is almost certain to receive the No. 1 spot in final polls.
Technically, though, voters could choose UCF as the top-ranked team. The Knights wrapped up their year with a 34-27 Peach Bowl victory over Auburn, the only program to beat either Alabama or Georgia this season.
While a No. 1 slot probably isn’t going to happen, that’s not going to stop UCF from celebrating the only perfect record of 2017.
