The housecleaning in Green Bay is continuing. After the team moved on from defensive coordinator Dom Capers and general manager Ted Thompson earlier in the week, two more big changes are reportedly set to take place.
According to various media reports, the Packers have fired offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett and quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt.
Edgar Bennett is out as Packers’ offensive coordinaor and Alex Van Pelt is out as Packers’ QB coach, per @RobDemovsky and @mortreport.

That’s a whole lot of head coach Mike McCarthy using the fall-guy mantra to overcome his own inefficiencies. Remember, it was just announced that McCarthy had agreed to an extension this past regular season.
Bennett, a former running back for the Packers, has been on the team’s coaching staff since 2001. He was promoted to offensive coordinator back in 2015. Meanwhile, Van Pelt has served as Aaron Rodgers’ quarterbacks coach since 2014.
Green Bay is coming off a disappointing 7-9 season. Obviously, the team is looking to change up its philosophy. Whether that’s possible with McCarthy still manning the sideline in Lambeau remains to be seen.
