We’re continuing to see some positive signs of improvement in the health of Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier, who’s recovering from back surgery.
According to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Shazier visited the team’s practice facility on Saturday in a wheelchair. He wheeled himself through the facility and was accompanied by his fiancé, per the report. It’s not yet known if this was Shazier’s first trip back to the team’s facility since injuring his back against the Cincinnati Bengals a few weeks back.
Shazier was present during Pittsburgh’s game last Sunday against the New England Patriots. He was seated in the owner’s box and helped pump up the crowd by waiving a Terrible Towel.
After the game, he sent out a message on social media detailing how amazing the support of his fans around the world has been since being injured.
At this point, it’s unknown whether Shazier will ever fully recover. Fittipaldo noted Saturday was the first time the linebacker was seen in a wheelchair, and we’ve continued to see him make small improvements as he rehabs from the crushing injury.
