Bill Belichick has glorious quote about playing in Mexico City

Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots hasn't discussed a Malcolm Butler trade with the Saints yet

Bill Belichick and his New England Patriots absolutely rolled the Oakland Raiders, 33-8, in Mexico City on Sunday.

Sure the head coach is pleased with his team’s effort. He’s also pretty happy that both the Patriots and Raiders were able to avoid a natural catastrophe in Mexico City.

“Players did a great job dealing with all the challenges we had to deal with,” Belichick said (h/t ESPN). “I think we’re fortunate there was no volcano eruptions or earthquakes, or anything else while we were down there when you have two NFL franchises in the area that (you) don’t know how stable the geological plates were below us. But nothing happened, so it was good.”

This is what we would call Belichick actually opening up to the media. He’s usually a ho-hum personality to put it lightly.

And before we go off on the deep end with some nonsense about how the remarks were not PC, let us realize the Super Bowl-winning coach was talking about the recent earthquakes that have hit the Mexico City area. It might have actually been a legitimate concern for him.

In any event, Belichick’s Patriots now find themselves at 8-2 following their sixth consecutive win on Sunday.
