LSU RT Toby Weathersby challenges critics to ‘box it out’ with him

LSU offensive tackle Toby Weathersby

The LSU football team has taken a few steps in the wrong direction this season, and the criticism that has followed recently got to right tackle Toby Weathersby.

After a couple of blowout wins against cupcake opponents to open the season, LSU got a wakeup call against Mississippi State in Week 3, losing by 30 points. Then the Tigers barely got past Syracuse at home in Week 4 before losing to Sun Belt’s Troy Trojans, during homecoming weekend, no less. Adding insult to injury, Troy received almost $1 million for coming to Baton Rouge, and the Trojans trolled the Tigers after the game.

Needless to say, there has been plenty of criticism leveled at LSU, head coach Ed Orgeron and his players, who have certainly not lived up to the normal standards at Louisiana State.

On Sunday, Weathersby took to Twitter to address what he feels is unjust criticism. He even challenged people to meet him at a local gym to “box it out, since y’all wanna point fingers!”

That tweet has since been deleted. Thanks to the power of the Internet, however (and our friends at SEC Country), it cannot be erased that simply.

Things don’t get any easier for Weathersby and the Tigers this weekend. They’re gearing up for an SEC slugfest at The Swamp against a tough Florida team that has found ways to win close games since losing to Michigan in Week 1.
