At this point, all that anyone can do is speculate. Still, the reaction of Cook and the Minnesota sideline did not look good.

We won’t know anything until further tests are done. But in addition the reactions of Cook and his teammates, this injury has a few things that nobody wants to see.
First of all, it was a non-contact injury. Generally speaking, those are worse than if someone is hit.
Secondly, it was a non-contact injury on artificial turf, which tends to only make things more serious.
Cook entered Sunday’s game with 288 rushing yards in three games at 4.7 yards per carry. Prior to his injury on Sunday, he had added 66 yards on 13 carries, and his second rushing touchdown of the year.
