In a desperate attempt to bolster their quarterback position, the Cleveland Browns attempted and failed to acquire Cincinnati Bengals backup A.J. McCarron via trade on Tuesday.
Bengals and Browns tried, but failed, to complete trade for QB AJ McCarron before deadline, per sources. Deal was “close”; not finalized.

Cleveland has forever being trying to fix a broken quarterback situation that just keeps repeating the same sorry song. We must keep in mind this failed trade attempt follows another strikeout by the Browns when they attempted to obtain quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
Prior to the start of the 2017 season, the Browns were interested in Garoppolo, but the New England Patriots were not willing to deal him. Though suddenly, the Patriots had a recent change of heart. They surprisingly traded Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday.
This obviously does nothing to help the Browns who are barely able to keep above water with rookie DeShone Kizer headlining the show. The trade deadline has since come and passed and the Browns “Factory of Sadness” remains.
