First-year New Orleans Saints running back Adrian Peterson started for the team in his return to Minnesota on Monday night. He was also met with some boos from his former hometown fans.
And while Peterson started out with two rushes for 10 yards on the Saints’ initial possession, he didn’t see much action for the remainder of the first half. All said, the future Hall of Fame running back gained 14 yards on four attempts before halftime.
Not afraid to let Sean Payton in on his feelings about a lack of playing time, Peterson was seen jawing at the Saints’ head coach to open the third quarter.

As you can see above, Peterson got the attention of his head coach. What that might mean moving forward remains to be seen.
What we do know is that Payton is a no-nonsense personality. Being shown up on the sideline by a player, even if it is Peterson, can’t sit well with him.
This is definitely something to watch as the season unfolds in New Orleans.
