Danny Trevathan suspended two games for hit on Davante Adams

Danny Trevathan was not ejected for his illegal hit on Davante Adams, but he should have been

The NFL has suspended Chicago Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan two games for his illegal helmet-to-helmet hit on Davante Adams.

Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times provided the following details, noting Trevathan can appeal.

“Trevathan can appeal within three business days. Appeals are heard by either Derrick Brooks or James Thrash, who are jointly appointed by the NFL and NFLPA.”

There were many who thought Trevathan should have been ejected on the spot for the brutal hit. Adams had already been almost stopped and was being pulled down when Trevathan rushed in, helmet first, and decked the receiver. Adams had to be stretchered off the field and was swiftly sent to a nearby hospital for further evaluations.

Thankfully Adams got a clean MRI. He suffered a concussion from the hit but made sure to let his fans know he was “feeling great” on Friday.
