Miami announces that Vinny Testaverde’s son has left the program

Vincent Testaverde has left the Miami program

Vinny Testaverde was one of the greatest quarterbacks in Miami Hurricanes football history. He led the team to a Fiesta Bowl appearance and was eventually inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Unfortunately, his son had nowhere near the same success in his short stint with the Hurricanes.

Vincent Testaverde has left the Miami program after two seasons.

Not a highly-recruited quarterback out of Florida, the younger Testaverde did not throw a single pass in his two seasons with the Hurricanes. He red-shirted in 2015 and was a member of the program’s practice squad last season.

Hurricanes head coach Mark Richt confirmed the report on Thursday.

“Vincent approached me this morning and indicated that he felt like he would have more opportunities for playing time at another program,” Richt said, via the Tampa Bay Times. “We wish him all the best in his future plans.”

It’s a somewhat unfortunate ending to the Testaverde legacy in Miami. After all, Vincent’s father brought the program to national prominence during a career that also included a Heisman Trophy.
