Mat Latos has been told by the Blue Jays he will not make the major league roster.
According to Jays radio broadcaster Mike Wilner, the 29-year-old needs to decide if he wants to accept a Triple-A assignment or elect as a free agent.
Latos was signed to a minor-league deal in February with an invite to major league camp. He has eight seasons under his belt with a career 3.60 ERA and 1.202 WHIP across seven teams and a few stints in the minors. He also has an extremely low 5.40 K/9 rate in 2016.
It’ll be interesting to see what he decides on his next move and if teams will take a chance.
