Cleveland Browns receiver Josh Gordon has reportedly been released from the rehab facility he checked into a month ago, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“It is said to be the most intensive treatment that he has gone through, and Gordon is doing ‘a lot better,’ one source said.”
The talented receiver is currently suspended indefinitely after reportedly violating the league’s substance abuse policy once again this year. He’s currently waiting for the NFL to decide his fate, and it remains unknown if the league intends to reinstate him or not, per Schefter.
The Browns have reportedly been trying to trade Gordon and are said to be done with him. This is not surprising, given the fact he’s now violated the league’s substance abuse policy enough times to potentially be banned for life.
Trading him seems like an unlikely outcome, given his baggage and the fact he’s still suspended.
Per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, while players who are suspended cannot normally be traded, Gordon could be.
“League spokesman Brian McCarthy told cleveland.com that a club can trade the contract of a player on indefinite suspension,” she wrote.
The NFL trade deadline is up on November 1 at 4 p.m. ET.
