Portland Trailblazers point guard Damian Lillard is amazing on the court, but he showed himself to be even more amazing off it this summer.
A mom in Vancouver, Wash., Erica Cassidy, related a story about how Lillard blessed her and her son, who wanted to attend his basketball camp for his birthday. Nice Kicks passed her Facebook message along on Twitter.

Not only did Lillard make a way for her son to attend, but he paid the $325 registration fee on top of that, without being asked. That’s the heart of a champion. Lillard is a young man boys can look up to and learn from, and he clearly “gets it.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Lillard putting his best foot forward off the court, either. He gave a rousing commencement speech last year at Weber State in which he touted family above all else (watch here).
Lillard is currently rehabbing a nagging plantar fasciitis injury that kept him from performing at his best during the latter half of last season. He was invited to play for Team USA at the 2016 Rio Olympics but opted to get healthy at home, instead.
