Not surprisingly, Oakland A’s outfielder Coco Crisp has been suspended by MLB for throwing his bat at an ump on Thursday.
A’s OF Coco Crisp suspended 1 game for intentionally throwing his bat in the direction of an umpire during Thursday’s game in Houston.

Crisp was ejected after he lost his composure in the fifth inning against the Houston Astros. He struck out swinging, afterwards arguing with home plate umpire D.J. Reyburn. Then came the bat throwing incident, which led to his ejection and suspension.
Afterwards, Crisp knew he made a mistake.
“When I walked off, I just wanted to flick it back with kind of a, ‘Well, let’s see if you can hit it-type of mentality,'” Crisp said, via MLB.com. “I knew I was going to get ejected for that, and when I went to look at it, I was like, ‘[Shoot], it came out way too hot.’
“It went way too close. … When he kicked me out, I was like, ‘Yup, I deserved that.'”
A’s manager Bob Melvin came out in defense of his player but managed to remain in the game.
The ejection also put an end to Crisp’s 12-game hitting streak, and now he’ll have an extra game to think about his actions.
Lucky for him, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred is much more forgiving than the NFL’s Roger Goodell. To that point, many might argue that one game isn’t a long enough suspension after an action like the one we saw from Crisp Thursday night.
